With Wendy Howarth and Bethan Welby. We explore a variety of printmaking techniques including Lino cuts, Mono printing, Drypoint etching and Tetrapak printing. Using inspiration from your sketchbook, photographs or your imagination, you will design and produce prints in your chosen method.

Over six weeks, The Introduction to Picture Book Illustration classes aim to take us through the process of putting a story together, from the initial inspiration and ideas, through mark making, character development, and the use of colour. We also look at page layout and the relationship between text and image.

Cost: In person £150 + travel expenses | Virtual £75

You can book an Author/Illustrator visit for your school or college. These visits are tailored to the age and interest of the students: For younger classes it involves a short talk about my practice followed by a book reading and a connected activity. This visit can be in person or online.

For older students and colleges, I offer a more in depth talk about my practice, followed by an illustration workshop.

I have been an Artist in Residence at the Ways With Words Literary Festival for several years now, sketching the comings and goings of audience and speakers and running sketching and Printmaking workshops with Wendy Howarth.
